GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM (GIS) PROGRAM MANAGER
Note: This may be a full time or on demand position from any of our offices or performed remotely, based on program needs.
Applied EarthWorks, Inc. (Æ) has an immediate opening for a GIS Program Manager. The GIS Program Manager is responsible for the GIS services offered to our clients including spatial data collection; GIS database development, mapping, analysis, and spatial modeling.
The GIS Program Manager oversees GIS activities producing accurate cartographic products to support our cultural investigations through overarching coordination of GIS work (people, data, and products) across all Æ offices. Coordinates, manages, and directs GIS database/applications development, definitions, maintenance, and implementation. Builds and maintains client relationships, expanding our service offerings to new and existing clients, while advancing GIS staff capabilities. Hands-on GIS work includes management of GIS and GPS data; creation and maintenance of project specific geodatabases and shapefiles; georeferencing; and production of report quality maps. The position requires prior experience to successfully initiate and complete GIS and projects in collaboration with technical and non-technical customers.
Considerable knowledge of Geographic Information System standards, practices and procedures;
Considerable knowledge of ESRI software;
Knowledge of database management system principles;
Perform process mapping and document workflows;
Develop and manage GIS project plans including defining requirements, tasks, and resource assignments, ensuring that approved quality levels and deadlines are met;
Plan, design and implement GIS-based services for internal and external clients;
Experience managing multiple simultaneous projects;
Provide GIS-related technical guidance, leadership, and mentoring GIS Technicians & Project Managers;
Sufficient field data experience to analyze and recommend appropriate data gathering and data management practices;
Develop GIS workflows and datasets to be utilized for field technicians in a mobile environment;
Evaluate technological advances, promoting usage of new tools and applications for increased efficiency and expand service offerings including 3D modeling and photogrammetry;
Strong work ethic and good communication skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Undergraduate or graduate degree in planning, geography, computer science, engineering or related field. At least 7 years progressively responsible experience with Esri Geospatial Cloud including ArcGIS, Adobe, and Microsoft Office suite required. ArcGIS and GISP Certification preferred.
