GIS TECHNICIAN II
Location: 100% remote for GIS Technician or any office especially if applicant also has archaeology skills
Pay Range:
GTEC II $26 - $36/hour
Applied EarthWorks, Inc. has an immediate opening for a GIS Technician II. We would love to have you join us in an Æ office, but are open to work from home or 100% remote flexibility.
Duties:
GIS Technician II works under the direction of senior staff and the GIS Manager on complex cultural resource GIS projects. Job duties may include conducting archival research; update and maintain GIS databases to existing standards; assist in the quality control/quality assurance of company spatial data; produce high-quality maps; coordinate and implement GIS data conversion and visualization; interpret and georeference plans, photographs, maps, and legal descriptions for the creation of GIS data; assist in the acquisition of spatial data to support company reports; setup GIS data for Field Maps; ability to perform the work of other GIS Technicians as required.
Skill Requirements:
Strong understanding of ESRI’s ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
Excellent cartographic skills
Ability to perform basic spatial analysis for both vector and raster analysis
Understand and utilize basic spatial statistics
Ability to apply spatial queries to interrogate project data
Strong understanding of geoprocessing tools and ESRI extensions
Successfully shows ability to prioritize multiple competing GIS tasks
Education and Experience:
Undergraduate or graduate degree in anthropology, archaeology, historical archaeology, geology, paleontology, GIS, built environment, or related fields with demonstratable knowledge of GIS experience through coursework or internships.
Minimum of 1-2 years of progressively responsible employment in GIS.
