PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

Location: Any AE Office or Remote

Pay Range: $21.50 to $35.00/hour DOE

Applied EarthWorks, Inc. (Æ) has an immediate opening a Production Assistant in any AE office with some flexibility for a hybrid schedule. Note: Depending on business needs, this role may be in addition to Archaeologist or Paleontologist roles, or as a full-time position on its own.

Duties:

The Production Assistant works under supervision on a variety of cultural and paleontological resource management documents. Job duties include formatting and proofreading technical documents for archaeology, paleontology, built environment, and other resource management projects. They assist other production staff by formatting and editing letter reports and proposals and reviewing company resumes.

Skill Requirements:  

The Production Assistant must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat.

Staff in this job category are classified as Production Assistants (PROA) I and II. These classifications help ensure that technicians are appropriately qualified to fulfill their responsibilities. The classification system is based on experience and skill, level of responsibility in the production process, and familiarity with California resource management. As a result, skills are cumulative and the more advanced the classification, the higher the associated knowledge and competency required of the assistant.

Production Assistant I—Beginner

  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Word, including use of track changes, styles, and formatting.

  •  Excellent attention to detail.

  •  Ability to understand and consistently follow Æ’s style guide.

  •  Good oral and written communication skills, and the desire to learn.

  •  Ability to work on letter reports and site record forms.

Production Assistant II—Intermediate

  •  At least 1 year of copyediting, proofreading, formatting, and/or technical editing experience.

  •  Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, including use of track changes, styles, and formatting text, tables, and graphics for page layout.

  •  Ability to create, compile, and edit Adobe Acrobat PDF documents.

  •  Familiarity with EndNote to insert citations and add references to the library.

  •  Works independently on some tasks, reports status regularly, and asks promptly if clarification is needed.

  •  Ability to complete production of letter reports and cultural resource records with oversight from the Production Specialist/Supervisor.

Education and Experience:

  • Degree in anthropology, geology, business, communications, or related field.

  •  Two years of full-time-equivalent administrative experience may substitute for undergraduate degree.

  •  Experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
